This short itinerary gives the opportunity to cross the territory of Verolengo and reach Cascina Piccono, interesting and big town with its own church and still today inhabited by farmers. The distinctive feature of this itinerary is represented by Cavour Channel, constant and important presence in the territory. Built between 1863 and 1866 according to a project by Carlo Noè, Cavour Channel is about 85 km long, has a rate of flow of 110 m3/s and enables the irrigation of 300,000 hectares. The channel has been named after the Prime Minister Camillo Benso di Cavour, who can be considered the promoter of this important public work. Still today, Cavour Channel remains one of longest European channels.
