  • Length: 65 km

The hill of Turin is a very important green area a few steps from the town. The Great Traverse of Collina Torinese (GTC) leaves from Moncalieri, Le Vallere Park. The itinerary is ideal if you go on foot or by mountain bike and, running along the ridge of the hills, offers unique and charming views of the river network and on the hills surrounding Turin.
The itinerary is very long, about 65 km, and mainly develops along trails, but also carriage roads, dirt roads, and short asphalt stretches. It is partially marked with red-white-red trail markers, in many cases with the logo G.T.C.
In the hills of Moncalieri, you will also find wooden trail markers consisting of poles and panels. The itinerary, leaving from Parco delle Vallere in Moncalieri, leads to Moncalieri Royal Castle and then climbs the hill, touching Madonna della Neve chapel in loc. Rocciamelone. The itinerary continues in the territory of the Municipality of Turin, towards Rimembranza Park, the Hermitage and Superga Basilica. Crossing the regional parks of Collina di Superga and Bosco del Vaj, and touching Bardassano Castle (Municipality of Gassino), the GTC reaches the town of Chivasso, where the itinerary ends.
Despite its length and a total uphill difference in height of 1,500m, the itinerary does not present technical difficulties. In order not to have orienteering problems, it is essential to be equipped with the specific maps published by Coordinamento per i Sentieri della Collina Torinese, including a detailed description of the itinerary.
The G.T.C. meets further several itineraries (many of which leave from the banks of the river Po) planned and partly marked by the Associations belonging to Coordinamento per i Sentieri della Collina Torinese.
